The municipality of Iza was called the “Green Nest” for its fascinating natural environment. This was how the writer Manuel Ancízar perceived it when he participated in the choreographic commission in 1895. It has a historic urban center that stands out with the beauty of colonial architecture, which is why it has been classified as a Property of Cultural Interest. In zse stands out for its houses of threaded wall and roof in clay tile, the stories of Bochica, the textile trade and others that are heritage of the pre-Columbian period. The municipality of Iza Boyacá is also known for the production of blankets, a textile trade inherited from indigenous ancestors. The blankets had a sacred meaning for the aborigines because they offered it as a tribute to the caciques, they also used them to make exchanges for necessities. With the arrival of the settlers it became an article that the Spaniards demanded in their tax burdens. Currently the craft is preserved in particular the robe or woven in wool or cotton thread.
